On the menu, go to Scan Devices<\/em><em>\u00a0and select your ECM device. Make sure all engine parameters pass the diagnostics (all green)<\/em><\/p><p>2- Engine Synchronization\u00a0Data\u00a0Diagnostic\u00a0(not all ECM parameters are available when the ELD records an event e.g. duty status change)<\/p><p><em>Resolution: Make sure you are connected to the ECM device<\/em><em>. On the menu, go to Scan Devices<\/em><em>\u00a0and select your ECM device. Make sure the diagnostic passes all engine parameters (all green)<\/em><\/p><p>3- Missing Required Data Elements Data\u00a0Diagnostic\u00a0(other required data e.g. location, coordinates) not available when recording an event<\/p><p><em>Resolution: Make sure the GPS module is enabled on your ELD<\/em><\/p><p>4- Unidentified\u00a0Driving Records Data\u00a0Diagnostic\u00a0(more than 30 minutes of driving without a driver logged on the ELD)<\/p><p><em>Resolution: You are not logged on the ELD and the vehicle<\/em><em>\u00a0moves for an extended period of time. Please login and select your Driving time<\/em><\/p><p>5- Timing Compliance Diagnostic<\/p><p><em>Resolution: Go to Settings on your mobile smart device and make sure Date\/Time is set to automatic and synchronized with the network.<\/em><\/p><p>\u00a06- Positioning Compliance Diagnostic<\/p><p><em>Resolution: Make sure your mobile smart device has location<\/em><em>\u00a0services enabled and you are connected to the ECM device<\/em><em>.<\/em><\/p><p><strong>MALFUNCTIONS<\/strong>\u00a0<em>(most\u00a0malfunctions<\/em><em>\u00a0relate to a\u00a0Diagnostic, but a\u00a0malfunction\u00a0is generated when the same\u00a0diagnostic\u00a0occurs for at least 30 minutes in the last 24 hours):<\/em><\/p><p>P- Power Compliance (related to\u00a0diagnostic\u00a01)<\/p><p>E- Engine Synchronization\u00a0Compliance (related to\u00a0diagnostic\u00a02, for instance multiple periods of no ECM data that, when added together are more than 30 minutes in the last 24 hours)<\/p><p>T- Timing Compliance (the time on the ELD, compared to an external time source are different)<\/p><p><em>Resolution: Make sure the date and time on your mobile device<\/em><em>\u00a0is properly set. DO NOT (manually) change the date or the time on your ELD <\/em><\/p><p>L- Positioning Compliance (no location\u00a0available, (related to\u00a0diagnostic\u00a01)<\/p><p>R- Data Recording Compliance (monitor storage capability to store records)<\/p><p><em>Resolution: Make sure you have sufficient internal storage on your ELD. Delete files if necessary<\/em><\/p><p>S- Data Transfer Compliance (ELD records not able to be uploaded)<\/p><p><em>Resolution: You probably don\u2019t have internet<\/em><em>\u00a0access. Restart the ELD (if needed) and confirm you reconnect to the network<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-1262\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-1262\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon elementor-toggle-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-caret-right\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened\"><i class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened fas fa-caret-up\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-toggle-title\" tabindex=\"0\">Exporting the ELD output file<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1262\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1262\"><p>The following export methods are supported:<\/p><p><strong>USA<\/strong><\/p><p>Option1\u2014Telematics using Wireless Web services <br \/>Option2\u2014Local using both: USB2 and Bluetooth.<\/p><p>To submit the Output File to an authorized safety official, the driver selects the \u201cExport ELD Data File\u201d from the Logbook screen. The driver, then, will select one of the following methods:<\/p><p>&#8211; Agent External Storage: The ELD will first verify the external storage device is compatible with FMCSA specifications by validating the contents of file &#8220;ELDUSBTX.TXT&#8221;. After positive validation the ELD will save the data file on the FMCSA-provided external storage device.<\/p><p>&#8211; Bluetooth Transfer: After selecting this option, the authorized safety official will pair and verify PIN with the driver. Once the Bluetooth devices are paired, the safety official\u2019s technology equipment will transfer the output file to the FMCSA website using Web services.<\/p><p>&#8211; FMCSA web service: This option securely communicates to FMCSA&#8217;s end-point ad obtains submission ID.<\/p><p>NOTE: An email share option is also available for drivers to share Print\/Display logs and ELD Data File by sending an email to any destination.<\/p><p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Canada <\/strong><\/p><p>The ELD must be connected to the ECM and reading engine data in order to export the output file. If engine data is not available, you will see a notification indicating ECM connection is missing:<\/p><p>There are two different ways to export the output file, you can share (tap on SHARE) the output file with a third party or you and email the output file to a government agency. This document contains critical information to properly operate your ELD and a list of malfunctions and how to resolve them. It is also recommended to write down your ECM device\u2019s identifier (shown below) on a separate location in case you lose this document.<\/p><p><em>In some instances,<\/em>this manual uses Icon Keys to direct your attention to specific and important information. See the different icons on the left.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>What you need before operating the ELD?<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14\" src=\"http:\/\/r64.0da.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/1-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"517\" height=\"128\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mobilehelp.assuredtechmatics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/1-1.png 517w, https:\/\/mobilehelp.assuredtechmatics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/1-1-300x74.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 517px) 100vw, 517px\" \/><\/p><p>Your mobile device\u00a0(where the ELD app is running) must a) have Bluetooth\u00a0enabled and b) be connected to the internet\u00a0either with a cellular data plan or connected to a hot spot.<\/p><p>Installing the ECM device:<\/p><p>Please plug\u00a0the ECM deviceto the vehicle\u2019s diagnostic port. In some cases, you might need to use the ECM adapter\u00a0to plug the device on J1939 port.<\/p><p>Locate the diagnostic port\u00a0(see image below for possible locations depending on vehicle\u2019s make, model and year).<\/p><p><em>For the ELD to remain compliant, it must remain connected to the ECM device<\/em><em>and read engine data. The objective is to initially configure a vehicle\u00a0profile (tractor number, VIN number) and connect\/test the ECM device\u00a0connection.<\/p><ul><li>Configuring the ELD with the right asset<div>The ELD has to be linked to a carrier asset (vehicle).Please tap on the truck or trailerimage to pick from the asset list downloadedduring login (see list below) or to manually enter (if allowed) a new truck or trailer.Once you select a tractor or trailer from thedownloaded list the ELD will always use theVIN number, license plate and registration state displayed on the list:<br \/>Important: Enter the vehicle\u2019s dashboard\u2019s odometer value (twice) in order for the ELD to adjust discrepancies between dashboard and engine odometer.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-49\" src=\"http:\/\/r64.0da.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/2-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"292\" height=\"464\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mobilehelp.assuredtechmatics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/2-1.png 292w, https:\/\/mobilehelp.assuredtechmatics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/2-1-189x300.png 189w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 292px) 100vw, 292px\" \/><\/div><\/li><li>Establishing ECM Connection<div>Before a driver can operate an ELD, the ELD must be synchronized to the vehicle\u2019s engine using what is known as an Engine Synchronization Module (ECM) which is very common on GPS trackers.<br \/>Before scanning and connecting to an ECM device, make sure your ELD has Bluetooth functionality enabled:<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-50\" src=\"http:\/\/r64.0da.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/2-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"291\" height=\"107\" \/><br \/>We highly recommend installing a label or decal on the vehicle\u2019s dashboard with the ID of the ECM device installed on the vehicle. Also, write down this ECM ID.<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-51\" src=\"http:\/\/r64.0da.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/2-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"248\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mobilehelp.assuredtechmatics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/2-3.png 740w, https:\/\/mobilehelp.assuredtechmatics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/2-3-300x101.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/>To connect to the ECM device, tap on Scan Devices, wait for the device to show up (make sure the correct ECM ID shows up)<br \/>% For the ECM device to work properly and the ELD to be able to connect to the device and read engine data, the engine must be turned on. Keep this in mind when operating the ELD. Duty status changes, as an example, require engine parameters when generated. This account records duty status changes (RODS) and allows the export of driver\u2019s records for printout, display and agent output file generation.<\/p><p><strong><em>Support<\/em><\/strong>: Account used by the carrier\u00a0and ELD manufacturer to setup, configure, update and troubleshoot the ELD. No duty status changes are recorded with this account and no access to driver\u2019s record of duty status changes is permitted under the support account.<\/p><p><strong>Non-authenticated<\/strong>: All operation of a commercial motor vehicle\u00a0(CMV) is recorded under this account (a.k.a Unidentified\u00a0Driver) if no driver has logged into the ELD. Non-authenticated records (vehicle movement and on-duty time) are stored on the ELD as well as the carrier\u00a0and should be assumed by a driver account.<\/p><p>Login using your driver\u2019s credentials. Login IDs, and the driver\u2019s license associated with the login ID, cannot be duplicated and are unique in the ELD system.<\/p><ul><li>Each driver using the system will have a unique login ID.<\/li><li>This login name and password is for the specific driver\u2019s use only and must not be shared with any other person (driver or not). The login name belongs to the driver and is linked to the driver\u2019s personal information (e.g.driver\u2019s license, etcetera). If the driver changes carrierand is now driving for a different carrier, the login name, under certain circumstances, will remain the same and it is the driver\u2019s obligation to ask the home base carrier to update the carrier name and DOT number on the system.<\/li><\/ul><p>The driver is restricted to be logged on to only one ELD at any time. In order for the driver to logon on a different mobile device, the driver must change to off duty status and logout from the previous device.<\/p><p><strong><em>Driver<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u2019s unlock<\/em><\/strong>. In an event the driver is still logged on aELD, but the device ceased to function or gets lost, the driver must call the home base carrier\u00a0and ask for his login name to be unlocked. The same driver account cannot be used on multiple ELDs. If you lost your ELD while authenticated, contact your company and ask them to Unlock your account. Shippers and receivers can confirm exact arrival time, bay number assigned to the driver, safe parking instructions and additional notes. This information is shared (instantly) with drivers, allowing them to better plan their routes, rest times and minimize dock waiting time. Once the shipment is uploaded to the ELD portal, the carrier\u00a0can share the shipment with brokers, shipper and receiver.<\/p><p>On the new Shipments tab (online portal), motor carrier\u00a0personnel can see all shipments created by drivers. A pop-up window is displayed once the Details link is clicked. The motor carrier can share these ETAs with the broker and pickup\/delivery warehouses.
